A new year is upon us and with it brings a new schedule. We will being meeting on Tuesday nights for our weekly gatherings. The times will remain the same. Dinner served at 6:30 and ending 9:00 promptly. (For the kids sake.)

Thanks so much for being a part of our lives. See you Tuesday night for bakes ziti!

Thankful

It has been a wonderful Thanksgiving week. Lindsay and I spent a great amount of time relaxing with friends and family. I look forward to seeing you all soon. It has been too long since we got together last.

The next time we get together we will go over the Spiritual Gift Test. You can download it here: http://cl.ly/1r1t0Q0n1I2G0V0r1h0t. Feel free to complete it before hand or on Thursday night. I was considering having Thanksgiving day leftovers, but I am sure you are all sick of turkey. I will update this post when we figure out what we are going to do for dinner.

How has your Thanksgiving week been?

Cancelling This Week

No BRIC House this week gang. Lindsay is still really run-down. She has a nasty chest thing going on. It is all she can do to muster up the energy to watch the kids during the day. I also have a bit of a sinus thing going on.

So take the night and stay in your pajamas. If we are feeling up to it, maybe we can do a Google Hangout (Group Video) tonight.

I do have some things planned out. I think next week we are going to talk about “How to study the Bible.” We can share what some of the methods we all use. From the real simple, to the real nerdy. Then I think we are going to apply those tricks to the book of 1 Peter.

See you next week!

Isaac is teaching tonight!

Tonight (Thursday the 23rd, tomorrow night at the time of this writing), Isaac is bringing a lesson. I am looking forward to what he brings.

What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. (1 Corinthians 14:26 ESV)

Organic Greenhouse Church Planting Training

I wanted to share some of my thoughts regarding the recent Organic Greenhouse Church Planting Training.

Neil Cole teaching

Neil Cole Teaching

It was wonderful! There were about 10-12 of us in the 2nd Story. The teaching built upon the previous taught foundation (The First Story) and like its predecessor, was full of spiritual truth married with a great practical applications.

We discussed:

  • Foundations for Leadership Development
  • Tending Churches for Health and Fruitfulness
  • Harvesting Crops of Disciplemaking Leaders and Churches
  • Propagating Teams for the Discipling of the Nations

I can’t recommend these sessions enough. It was great to listen to Neil Cole. He is an excellent teacher exhibiting both intellect and heart. (I actually cried at one point.) Things that I walked away with:

  • The challenge of not allowing myself to settle into a plateau.
  • Always be a student.
  • Be willing to die daily.
  • Paul’s missionary travels have so much to teach!

I hope I can share some of the things I learned with you over the course of the next few weeks. The next time one comes back through, definitely check it out!

A people sent.

I have always invisioned a house church, a body of committed Christ followers working together to better the community they were a part of. It can be very easy to get into a routine and to have our focus be all about ourselves.
